A father-son licorice story from the Netherlands, and it does not disappoint.
Back in 1990, Willem Klepper set up shop on the market of Alkmaar. By 2015, he had 25 years of knowing exactly what his customers loved: sweet licorice with just a hint of salmiak to make it savory, and that perfect bite — not too hard, not too soft. So for his anniversary, he and Klepper Jr. went off to find a manufacturer and made it happen. The result is what they call a nostalgic bite, a reminder of the drugstore licorice of times long gone. We think that's exactly right.
